I tell colorful stories about my lived experiences, and like all of us, those experiences aren’t always pretty. After 30 years of trying to fit into a societal mould of what I “should be”, I woke up one morning and chose to live undefinably. I am constantly reminding myself that the art I create doesn’t have to be predictable. I don’t owe anyone anything when I create, as it’s simply a reflection of myself.
Claire Carter is an American, non-binary, multi-disciplinary artist and painter whose art tells stories of lived experiences through vibrant colors. Claire was born and raised in Washington, DC where they currently reside. Claire’s works are inspired, but not defined by Neo expressionism, pop-art, and graffiti. Claire’s art remains colorful, but their style is ever-changing and continues to push the boundaries of what is considered definable.
